How to Make Denmark Ginger Shots: Obsessed!

How to Make Denmark Ginger Shots: Obsessed!

As autumn is looming and the mornings are getting cold, even in California, Im starting every morning with a ginger shot. I was introduced to this in Denmark where, let’s be honest, its more or less always cold.

Ginger Shot Benefits

It is not only a kick to your body; ginger root has high levels of vitamin C and magnesium, it boosts your immune system, improves stomach performance, fights respiratory problems, improves your blood circulation, relieves stress, menstrual cramps... it's basically one step from giving you eternal life and a foot massage!

Now, in Denmark you can buy this stuff everywhere... and I mean EVERYWHERE.. as in even 7/11 has organic ginger shots! Here in California however its a different matter, despite living in the middle of my organic foodie bubble.

I therefore decided to make my own, and if I have to say so myself.. it came out pretty darn good.. good enough to share, so here goes:

Ingredients

1 oz (25 grams) fresh, peeled ginger

2 apples

2 lemons

4 (1 liter) cups of water

Instructions

Cut peeled ginger into slices. Peel the apples and lemons and cut into slices.

Put everything in a pot, add water and bring to a boil.

cook at medium heat with lid on for 1 hr

Drain the liquid into a freshly sterilized (with boiling water) mason jar and it will keep for a good week in the fridge.

Easy right?
